GRI Corporate Sustainability Reporting

Purpose: Used by organizations to publicly disclose their broader economic, environmental and social impact. Helps organizations increase transparency with their stakeholders. The tool can be used to show organizational contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fulfill reporting requirements under the EU-directive on non-financial reporting.

USERS OF THE TOOL

Active users: There are 12,000+ active organizations that add their reports onto the GRI website database. The database currently comprises of 30,000+ GRI reports and 49,000+ reports. There is a possibility that many other organizations are using the tool but are not actively uploading their reports.

Usage tracking: This is optional. Organizations can report back to GRI to publish in their database and expose the organization to a wider audience.

COST OF THE TOOL

Cost: GRI standards are available for free and can be downloaded from the GRI website. The support services offered by GRI range from EUR 4,000 – 10,300 depending on the service, size and type of the company (excluding VAT).

Cost determination: Support service required, size of the company and type of the company.

OUTPUT

End product: A sustainability report.

Verification of provided input: Information is self-reported.

INTEGRATION

Alignment with other measurement tools: The tool is linked to CDP, EU Directive, HKEX Guide and SEBI BRR.

Support and training provided: GRI provides support and set up training programs that explain how to establish a sustainability reporting process. There is a GRI Support Suite that is used to guide organizations on their journey to be transparent in their practices and report sustainability. Support includes the provision of tools and services that help prepare the report, help align your reporting to GRI framework and provide insights into sustainability data. Also have a GRI GOLD community which is a group of organizations that connect to develop solutions challenges.
